We can say that Marmaris is the window that opens up to the west. Whether its natural beauty, warm and friendly locals, or its history, with its many features of tourism Marmaris has always attracted locals and foriegners alike.

What has always separated Marmaris from other touristic areas is its warm and small city-like atmosphere. In the last few years, Marmaris has given headway with the rapid development of its infrastructure, parks and recreation and continuous construction of modern facilities. Many tourists having visited Mamaris, go back to their homeland, after falling in love with its charming bay. Other attributes that draw attention to Marmaris is it long 10 km coastline, clean swimmable sea and its awarding winning blue flag beach. Situated in Marmaris, nearly all yachtsmen travelling along the Meditterranean, dont pass by without visiting the most preferred and the eastern Mediterraneans largest marina. In addition, there are 12 villages, a special part of Marmaris, displaying their hidden natural beauties. Among these villages, the most visited and toured are the villages of Hisaronu, Orhaniye, Turgut, Selimiye, Bozburun and Sogut. the largest areas of all villages in the region, the highest population, as well as the longest coastline, and the most virgin, is the village of Sogut. It has a very scattered settlement that comprises of 4 neighborhoods. Amongst all of the villages in Marmaris, it is the largest village in area and occupies a very crowned population. The source of income for the people of Sogut is agriculture, stockbreeding, and fishing. At the entrance of this village it is clearly seen that the land is widespread and not only ideal but also open for development. The basic infrastructure is in place, namely electricity and water. Due to the lack of touristic facilities, and no matter how beautiful and natural the long coastline is, it is not a frequently visited place by yachters compared to the other mentioned villagers. Right across from Sogut village, at a very near distance, youll find the Greek Islands. As there are a large variety of fish types caught, fishing is the most preferred source of income. The few fish restaurants located along the coast is a favorite by locals. Sogut presents peerless views and an ultimately charming natural beauty, unfortunately the village of Sogut does not focus much on foreign tourists. According to the locals and village authorities, along the Marmaris coastline, Sogut village, compared to all the other villages, is the most ideal, most thought about, and the only area left for a marina. What gain would there be for a marina in Sogut? First of all it would play a big role in the development; be known and acknowledged by both local and foreign visitors to the region. By earning from tourism, it would provide enormous capital gains on real estate. The amazing natural beauty, and the constant interest of a marina, would open up paths to different business and employment opportunties, thus adding to the source of income for a better economy within the village. By opening up the future for the village, it will provide a positive and lucrative operation for many years to come. What would it earn the marina administration? Having a marina in Sogut village, is a substantial gain more than the other marinas due to its nearby proximity and very easy passage to the Greek islands - situated only across the way. By increasing the employment in the village, labor would be cheap, providing higher profits for the marina administrators. Who wouldnt want to visit a place completely virgin with a magnificent natural beauty&and high capital gains. The village of sogut has a mediterranean climate. There is a post office, health clinic, and sewage system network. There is also water, electricity, telephone, and a primary school.
